About Our Speaker

Bruno Dias is the Executive Director of Safety and Security for the Weatherford Independent School District in Texas. He is responsible for all security and emergency management initiatives for the district, which consists of 11 campuses, a football stadium and additional support buildings. The district has over 8,000 students and over 1,000 staff members.

Bruno is a K-12 board advisor for the Texas Chapter of the Association of Threat Assessment Professionals (ATAP) and he is a member of the ASIS National School Safety Council. Bruno is a retired police commander and he is a graduate of the FBI National academy. Prior to working for Weatherford ISD Bruno managed corporate security investigations for a fortune 10 company in the U.S. and Canada. He holds B.S. and M.S. degrees in criminal justice and he was recently selected by the Department of Homeland Security to attend the prestigious Naval Postgraduate School Masters in Homeland Defense and Security program.

Bruno believes that having a robust safety and security framework with defined supporting initiatives is a key strategy in preventing school violence. Bruno’s safety and security framework has been adopted by neighboring school districts, law enforcement agencies and safety officials in Texas and Oklahoma.
