Schools may be eligible to secure up to $500,000 in federal funding through the COPS School Violence Prevention Program (SVPP) to support safety initiatives, including solutions that strengthen deterrence, emergency management, and response.
In this webinar, grant consultant Phil Gothard will share how schools can approach pursuing SVPP funding to implement school safety solutions. You’ll learn how critical it is to properly position your needs within the grant, what the process looks like from start to submission, and how preparing now can help your team be ready when the SVPP application window opens.

Phil Gothard is a security consultant, grant strategist, and special operations veteran dedicated to helping schools strengthen campus safety. A former member of the U.S. Army’s 75th Ranger Regiment, Phil brings more than 20 years of experience in security operations, proposal management, and government funding programs.
After serving in the military, Phil worked in diplomatic protection and security leadership roles before focusing his efforts on helping schools access federal funding to improve safety. Through his work at Gothard Consulting, Phil helps schools navigate complex federal funding opportunities such as the Department of Justice’s School Violence Prevention Program (SVPP). His work has helped schools secure nearly $7 million in federal funding, enabling districts that might otherwise lack resources to implement meaningful safety improvements.
Phil holds a Master’s degree in Applied Leadership and Management and brings a mission-driven commitment to ensuring schools have access to the guidance, funding, and security strategies needed to protect their communities.
