Christianne Eason is the President of Sport Safety & Education at the Korey Stringer Institute at the University of Connecticut. She is the director of innovATe, a project designed to help under resourced school communities increase access to athletic training services. She also oversees KSI’s High School Sports Safety Project. Her work focuses primarily on best practice policies for preventing sudden death in sport and access to athletic training services. Christy earned her BS in athletic training from UConn, her MS in nutrition and physical activity from James Madison University, and her PhD in Sport Management from UConn. She maintains her athletic training licensure and provides patient care annually at the Boston Marathon and Falmouth Road Race.

Samantha Scarneo-Miller, PhD, ATC,
Clinical Assistant Professor, School of Rehabilitation Sciences at Old Dominion University

Dr. Samantha Scarneo-Miller is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the School of Rehabilitation Sciences at Old Dominion University. She is a nationally recognized expert in emergency preparedness in sport, with a research focus on reducing catastrophic injury through public health-informed interventions. Dr. Scarneo-Miller is a lead author of the NATA Position Statement on Emergency Action Plan Development and Implementation and serves as a consultant for institutions aiming to improve safety policies and practices in athletic healthcare. Her work bridges research, education, and advocacy to promote evidence-based strategies that protect athletes and support clinicians in the field. Her bachelor’s degree is from the University of New Hampshire and her graduate degrees are from UConn, with a post-doctoral fellowship with the Korey Stringer Institute.
